The Angel Hotel
Market Place, Lavenham, Suffolk
Without a doubt, Lavenham is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved medieval towns in the county. On wool trade, it founded its riches over several centuries. This shows in the wealth of architectural detail in the town. Authorities granted The Angel its first licence in 1420. This impressive inn exhibits ghostly manifestations. These include a little old woman in an old-fashioned dress. On one occasion, the then proprietor was opening the pub on Christmas Day and saw the ghost of this woman in the bar. She was standing still and gazing upon the festive tree. She smiled happily at the proprietor and disappeared. Employees claim that the ghost the spirit of Mrs Goodhew, a former proprietor.
