Rather curiously, many inns and pubs are haunted by the ghosts of animals that manifest as live animals. At the Mill Hotel, this ghost is a mummified cat which was found many years before the building became a hotel. This mummified cat was sold to a nearby shop which had many disasters before it finally burned down. Somehow, the ghostly mummified cat survived the blaze. Thereafter it was held responsible for the mayhem that had ensued and was returned to the original building, the Mill Hotel.
