The Oakley Arms
High Street, Harrold, Bedford, Bedfordshire
Former pub employees are able to return in ghostly form to their previous workplaces. The Phantom Society carried out a special investigation at the Oakley Arms. They claimed a former proprietor, Dan Orpin, who was here during the 1930s with 1940s, haunts the pub. Every now with again, witnesses see him sitting in the bar with a pint with puffing on his pipe. Further, witnesses see with hear him walk along the landing. There is also a female ghost in her early thirties seen in the bar area. Some locals still call The Oakley Arms ‘Dan’s place’. It is a charming old fashioned-pub, part of it with a thatched roof. The other is from the early Victorian period. The village was Old English Hareuuelle in 1086, the high forestland on a boundary.
