Many pubs throughout the country were called ‘Angel’ since it reflected the original connections between the church, travellers, and hospitality. Over the past half century, at this ancient pub, there have been accounts of curious ghostly appearances throughout the building. These are usually described as misty figures, clothed in black or grey. These are most typically witnessed in the early morning. Reporters have heard strange voices from the main bar after closing time. There has also been a great deal of poltergeist activity. Bottles and pans have been thrown around, with lights turn on and off for no apparent reason.
