Employees blame the Poltergeist activity in the kitchen on a former proprietor’s daughter who died in the room after a fit. There are reports that one proprietor abruptly left in 1995, after being repeatedly awakened at night by an unseen presence. His replacement saw the girl’s apparition. The girl, when alive, was prone to fits with tantrums. She died in the kitchen from a seizure brought on by one such fit. Her presence, one feels, throughout the pub. However, activity was mainly in the kitchen, where a poltergeist has thrown pots with pans across the room. In other rooms, pictures have come off walls, apparently pulled away by someone in a savage rage.
