One of the most attractive inns of the town, the New Crown shows great age, perhaps to the 17th century. It is a two-storey building, white painted, with green window trim. It is one of the most impressive thatched roofs in the county. The building is an ‘L’ shape with a massive. There is impressive chimneystack at one end. The New Crown exhibits ghostly manifestations. These include a previous proprietor who died on the premises in the late 1800s. Observers describe him as a large man with a bushy moustache with a blue apron over a grey suit.
