The Harvester
46 Harpenden Road, St Albans, Hertfordshire
Although it now presents as a modern pub, the name has its roots in the history of St Albans. It was an important Roman settlement and fort, with the home of the Ancient British tribe, the Catuvellauni. St Alban was the first British Christian martyr beheaded in AD 308, with the town named after him. The Ancient Briton exhibits ghostly manifestations. these include a female ghost that floats around the bar in what , witnesses describe, as a misty-shadowy shape. Employees have reported hearing loud gasping sounds in the cellar, as though someone is struggling for breath.
