A large white painted inn, the White Horse has history over three centuries although it has not been on the same site for that time. It exhibits ghostly manifestations. these include the ghost of eight years old boy, Frederick Harrod, who drowned at Gorleston in 1888. His body washed up at Corton. He was taken in the first instance to the ‘dead house of the parish’. Subsequently, his drowned corpse was carried to the White Horse, where an inquest was held. A previous proprietor, Elizabeth Smith, looked after the many shipwrecked seamen who arrived on Corton Beach between 1890 and the early 1920s.The beach exhibits ghostly manifestations. these include the ghosts of a man and dog, both seen looking out to sea before they dissolve and vanish.
