Hope and Anchor
Wanlip Rd, Syston, Leicestershire
An early Victorian style building with history from the 17th century, the Hope and Anchor is a waterside pub with an active ghost, Benjy. Although he has been in residence for a good length of time, no one has any history or legend to put on him. He is a particularly noisy ghost and loathed for banging doors and whistling late at night. For a short period in the 1990s, Benjy made an appearance as a thin, transparent ghost. It was at this time that barmaids complained that a ghost was coming up behind them and pinching their bottoms.
