The Derwentwater Arms
2 Low Side, Calver, Hope Valley, Calver, Derbyshire
Nestling in Hope Valley in the Peak District, The Derwentwater Arms is a good example of early Victorian architecture. On several occasions, guests have been disturbed during the night by what they feel is an evil presence. One licensee was concerned about the number of people who would spend only one night in a particular room so arranged for three members of staff to spend the night in that room. In the early hours of the morning, they heard the bedroom door open and someone entered the room. They all felt this awful thing or being that had entered and fled. Although the women employees were not touched, this story has all the suggestion of an incubus.
