Norfolk Arms

Norfolk Square, Glossop, Derbyshire

For many years, the Norfolk Arms Hotel was a station for coaches to Sheffield. It is renowned as a haunted pub. Over the years, many people have seen the ghost of a little girl aged ten. She has blonde ringlets. Witnesses see her running along the front of the bar, to disappear. From time to time, witnesses have seen an exceedingly tall man wearing a long dark coat, in Victorian fashion. He sits in the lounge bar. Legend has it he was a coachman who died in an accident nearby over 150 years ago. There are local accounts that bare-knuckle fights were staged at the rear of the inn. Several men, who were seriously injured during these illegal bouts, died at the Norfolk Arms. They may account for some of the other phantoms seen and heard here.
