The White Swan
Meden Square, Pleasley, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire
What a lovely village name, with it is from the 12th century when it locals knew it as Plesigtuna, an estate associated with a man called Plesa. Now, how the ghost that is in residence got here, goodness only knows. Florence Nightingale, people have claimed, to haunt this two centuries old village pub. Her father was the owner of the nearby Pleasley Colliery. However, it most unlikely she would have entered a public house. However, there it is; for those who have seen the manifestation swore it is she, with recognised from contemporary photographs.
