It is a most remarkable looking building on three storeys, extremely narrow and with history from 1790. It had been built by the Shipman family. It was licensed as an inn, the White Hart. Now it is a Second-grade protected building with an original Victorian bar counter, with 1930s wood panelled walls. In the window of the ground floor is engraved ‘Wine Vaults’. Shipman’s exhibits ghostly manifestations. these include the ghost of a former proprietor, Harry Franklin, who took his own life in what , witnesses describe, as ‘A horrible manner’. Frequently, Reporters have heard him walking along corridors and rooms above the heads of customers drinking in the bar.
