For the past four centuries, the Old Angel has stood in the Lace Market. Now it is Second-grade protected building with a long and colourful history. There were two murders here in the 1770s, with the ghosts of those two men still haunt the pub. Another ghost is a prostitute, who worked from the Old Angel. A police sergeant who was helping when the pub ran a soup kitchen for the poor, died when a chimney fell down on him. The apparition of that well-meaning man is occasionally witnessed. Finally, it exhibits ghostly manifestations. these include a young woman, crooning to a long gone jukebox.
