With history over three centuries, the Anchor exhibits ghostly manifestations. These include a quiet ghost who observers often see sitting in the bar. There are two stories told of this man. One story is that he was an old miner who used the pub or had been a local farm worker, again a regular customer. At the nearby Kings Head, a previous proprietor was Thomas Pierrepoint.
