For years, the only people at this inn who saw Gladys, the resident ghost here, were children. Currently, she has started manifesting to adults. Gladys is the ghost of a woman who hanged herself in the Black Horse, many years ago. Witnesses have described her as an elderly woman, with short, grey and wavy hair. Another ghost has manifested outside the Black Horse wearing a long, brown cloak with a hood. Could this be the ghost of a long dead monk or pilgrim? From time to time, there has been the sound of an invisible coach and horses pulling up outside the pub. There is then the sound of voices from people using an old-fashioned manner of speech. Although the sounds are clear, very little is understood and no one or no thing had been apparent.
