The Deeping Stage
16 Market Place, Market Deeping, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire
This is Perhaps a strange name for a pub. However, at one time it was a coaching inn. A curious event occurred here in 1846, when a hole suddenly appeared in the stable yard as a coach drew up, with all the horses fell into it. Now and again there , one may hear, the crashing of the coach, with the terrified whinnies of the horses as they are catapulted into the pit. The bodies of several of the victims were carried into the inn, with their ghosts still haunt the building with cries and the occasional manifestation. Just over ten years ago, a photograph taken of the crew outside the front of Market Deeping fire station showed the ghost of a woman in Victorian dress standing in the doorway. A second photograph taken moments later showed no such figure.
